Our Doctors
MEET OUR DOCTORS
From humble beginnings with two doctors, we’ve grown to a team of six doctors, still proudly rooted in the values of continuity, family care, and community service. Decades later, our mission remains the same — to care for every generation with kindness, expertise, and heart.
Dr Ludwig Bohmer
After qualifying with an MBChB from the University of Pretoria, I pursued further postgraduate training through the College of Medicine of South Africa, obtaining Diplomas in Child Health, Obstetrics, and Anaesthetics...
From 1990 to 1999, as part of the services offered through our practice I served as a medical advisor for Sanlam in Natal.
Within the practice, I have a strong interest in clinical problem solving and enjoy a broad scope of medicine, with particular focus on cardiology, aesthetics, paediatrics, and dermatology.
Outside of work, I enjoy playing golf, spending time in the bush, travelling, and connecting with good friends.
Dr Leanne Pienaar
A proud graduate of the University of Pretoria (TUKS) in 2004, I have been in private practice since 2008. I am a dedicated General Practitioner and co-partner of Dr Bohmer, Pienaar and Warren GP Practice...
I have a deep commitment to holistic and preventative care. Alongside my passion for family medicine, I am also the co-founder and CEO of Envisage, a second medical practice focused on non-invasive aesthetic medicine. I hold a Diploma in Aesthetic medicine and maintain an active membership with AAMSSA (Aesthetic and Anti-Aging Medicine Society of South Africa), pursuing annual advanced training to stay at the forefront of the field.
I am a devoted wife and mother of two vibrant daughters in their tween years. I draw strength and purpose from my Christian faith, which remains central to both my personal life and professional values.
Outside of the practice, I find joy in friendships, home styling, succulent potting and expressing myself through art.
Dr Paula Warren
I graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in 2003 and completed my internship at MGMH in Phoenix, rotating through Obstetrics & Gynaecology and General Medicine...
My community service took place in the Drakensberg, where I treated everything from premature babies to snake bites and amputations — an experience I loved.
In 2006, I was appointed as a Medical Officer in the Department of Cardiology at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital, where I developed a strong foundation in cardiology and emergency cardiac care.
I spent three years in General Practice before joining the Life Entabeni Neuro-Medical Rehabilitation Unit. Over the next eight years, I cared for patients with head and spinal cord injuries, polytrauma, and ICU-related conditions. During this time, I also worked at Entabeni Casualty and Sharks Medical.
In 2015, I joined this practice to focus on holistic, relationship-based care in a more balanced environment.
I prioritise long-term patient relationships, realistic lifestyle changes, and minimal medication.
My special interests include ADHD, learning difficulties, and women’s health.
Outside of work, I enjoy family life with my husband Angus and our children, Joseph and Kathryn. We share our home with dogs, a cat, chickens, geese, bees — and our beloved Dexter cows.
Dr Sheena Swart
Hailing from the Eastern Cape, I qualified at Stellenbosch University and then enjoyed 3.5 years at Edendale Hospital, where I managed to attain post-grad diplomas in child health and anaesthetics...
I then moved on to private practice locum work for 1.5 years and joined this practice permanently shortly thereafter. I have 2 children of my own, and my husband and I have recently graduated to empty nest status, which is affording me the ability to increase my hours at the practice, but also to enjoy more time camping and enjoying the outdoors.
I have loved the broader scope of GP practice and enjoy treating all ages, and a wide range of conditions, including paediatrics, women’s health, the aged, lifestyle illnesses, minor trauma, skin conditions, and the list goes on.
I enjoy the teamwork our practice affords, and love the relationship that develops over time with regular patients, and have loved serving this community over the last few years.
Dr Tracey Montgomery
Born and bred in the upper highway area, I was once a patient of this practice. It is such a privilege to serve in my own community...
I studied medicine at TUKS, and thereafter, completed my internship and community service rotating through Pietermaritzburg hospitals. I have been practicing for over 10 years, and have loved my time in private practice. I thrive in managing the whole family, including paediatrics, women’s health, mental health, basic dermatology, minor procedures and more.
I do my best to manage my patients with a sympathetic ear and a wholisitic approach, drawing on both my own experience, as well as the other fantastic doctors that surround me at our practice. I love the camaraderie that comes from working in a large dynamic practice, and greatly value the relationships I have developed with colleagues and patients alike.
I am happily married with 3 children, 2 dogs, a budgie and a handful of fish. Outside of juggling a busy work and home life, you can find me reading, baking, possibly watercolour painting, and spending time with my nearest and dearest.
Dr Abigail Louw
I was born and raised in Hillcrest, surrounded by my large, close-knit extended family — many of whom are still in the area today...
I completed my schooling right here in Hillcrest before heading to the University of the Free State, where I earned my MBChB.
After an eventful and demanding internship at the Pietermaritzburg Hospital Complex, my passion for child health led me to complete a Diploma in Child Health while working in the busy Paediatric Resuscitation Unit at King Edward Hospital.
I went on to spend three more years as a Paediatric Medical officer in the public sector. What began as a short breather in private practice soon became a permanent shift-and I’ve never looked back. Children’s health remains a core focus of my work and I also enjoy caring for patients with skin conditions, sports-related injuries and cultivating long term relationships with my patients and their families.
Outside the practice, I’m happiest in my rose garden, out on a trail run, exploring the ocean while scuba diving and spending quality time with my family and good friends.
Being part of a medical practice that has cared for my family and myself over the years is a privilege I deeply value.
